Website Strohm und Söhne e.V.
Tasks:
- Definition of laminate layups
- Design and evaluation of adhesive joints (e.g., DP490 and similar structural adhesives)
- Insert and hardpoint design
- FEM validation and structural verification
Profile:
- Interest in Carbon fiber
- CAD knowledge
What awaits you:
As a Structural & Composite Engineer, you are responsible for the structural design and validation of our suspension components, with a strong focus on fiber-reinforced composite structures and load-bearing interfaces. You define laminate layups, evaluate fiber orientations and wall thicknesses, and develop solutions that are both lightweight and structurally robust.
A key aspect of your work is the design and integration of inserts and hardpoints within composite structures. You consider load paths, local stress concentrations, and the safe transfer of forces into the overall component. You also plan and assess adhesive joints, for example using structural adhesives such as DP490, with regard to strength, durability, and manufacturability.
To validate your concepts, you perform FEM analyses or prepare models accordingly. The objective is to identify weaknesses at an early stage and ensure structural integrity through engineering validation rather than assumption.
This role requires a solid understanding of mechanics, material science, and load paths, as well as structured and analytical working methods. If you enjoy not only designing components but also validating them through calculations and truly understanding them in detail, this is the right position for you.
Time expenditure: At least 10 hours per Week
