Kinematics & Vehicle Dynamics Engineer

Website Strohm und Söhne e.V.

Tasks:

  • MATLAB / Python-based kinematic analysis
  • Analysis of roll center progression, camber gain, toe change and bump steer
  • Setup simulations
  • Evaluation and analysis of vehicle test data

Profile:

  • Interest in MATLAB or Python
  • Strong motivation to work on theoretical and analytical topics

What awaits you:

As a Kinematics & Vehicle Dynamics Engineer, you are responsible for building the theoretical foundation of our suspension system. You analyze and evaluate the geometric relationships within our suspension architecture and ensure that the vehicle is not only structurally sound but also dynamically competitive.

Using MATLAB or Python, you will develop your own kinematic models to study roll center migration, camber gain, toe change, and bump steer characteristics. The objective is to fully understand the vehicle’s behavior throughout the entire suspension travel and to optimize it in a targeted and data-driven manner.

In addition, you will support setup simulations, assess geometry changes to control arms and suspension components, and provide well-founded decision-making input for the CAD design team. Working closely with Test & Validation, you will analyze real vehicle data and compare simulation results with on-track performance. This creates an iterative development process between theory, design, and testing.

This role requires strong analytical thinking, structured working methods, and a genuine interest in theoretical vehicle dynamics. If you enjoy breaking down complex systems mathematically and making performance measurable, this is the right position for you.

Time expenditure: At least 10 hours per Week
