Website Strohm und Söhne e.V.
Tasks:
- Analysis of data logging outputs (e.g., steering angle, lateral/longitudinal acceleration, damper travel, wheel speeds)
- Correlation of vehicle data with setup changes and performance outcomes
- Structured documentation of setup modifications
- Translation of driver feedback into measurable engineering hypotheses
- Support of data-based decision-making during test days and competitions
Profile:
- Strong analytical mindset and structured way of thinking
- Basic understanding of vehicle dynamics and setup parameters
- Experience with data analysis tools (e.g., MATLAB, Python, MoTeC, or similar) is beneficial
- Ability to communicate clearly with drivers and engineering teams
- High level of focus and composure under time pressure
What awaits you:
As a Data & Performance Engineer, you act as the interface between driver, vehicle, and performance optimization. Your objective is to derive concrete, data-driven setup decisions from measurement data and driver feedback in order to systematically improve vehicle performance.
You analyze data logging outputs, evaluating parameters such as steering angle, lateral and longitudinal acceleration, damper travel, and wheel speeds. By identifying correlations between setup configurations and vehicle behavior, you help quantify performance changes and validate engineering assumptions. You work closely with the Kinematics and Suspension teams to assess geometric or mechanical adjustments based on real-world data.
A key responsibility in this role is the structured processing of driver feedback. You help translate subjective impressions into measurable hypotheses and comparable performance metrics. Setup changes , such as camber, toe, damper settings, or roll stiffness adjustments, are documented, evaluated, and tracked historically to enable a structured development process.
During test days and competitions, you play a central role in the decision-making process. You support rapid, data-based adjustments and help iteratively tune the vehicle toward maximum performance.
This role requires analytical thinking, structured working methods, and a solid understanding of vehicle dynamics. If you want to make performance measurable and directly influence lap time, this is the right position for you.
Time expenditure: At least 10 hours per Week
